Dave Reetz Retires After 38 Years at Isabella Bank, Michael Huenemann Promoted to Chief Lending Officer

Neil McDonnell, President of Isabella Bank, announces the retirement of Dave Reetz and the appointment of Michael Huenemann to Chief Lending Officer, effective July 1, 2025.

Dave’s impact will be felt for years to come, and we wish him all the best in this well-earned retirement.”

Dave’s remarkable career at Isabella Bank started in 1987 when he joined the team as a commercial loan officer. He became the branch manager of our Clare location in 1993 and has served as Isabella Bank’s Chief Lending Officer for the past 23 years. As Chief Lending Officer, Dave has been a catalyst behind our growth and success. His strategic vision has led to significant loan growth, while his dedication to building strong, long-lasting customer relationships has set the standard for excellence for the Bank. Dave’s deep industry expertise and steady leadership have been truly invaluable and will leave a lasting impact on both our organization and the communities we serve.

Dave earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Ferris State University. He is a graduate of many esteemed programs, including the Perry Schools of Banking at Central Michigan University, Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Dale Carnegie Executive Leadership Program, Dale Carnegie Team Development Program, and Rollie Denison Leadership Institute.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dave demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement, volunteering with various community organizations, such as Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Church, Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club, Summit Clubhouse, Isabella Co-Expo Board, Union Township Little League, and Post 110 American Legion Baseball. Dave and his wife, Mary Kay, reside in Mt. Pleasant, where they have built a strong connection to the community over the years. They are proud parents to Mitch, Drew, Jackson, and Grace, and grandparents to Norah, Jolene, and Antonio. As Dave enters retirement, he looks forward to spending more quality time with his family, pursuing personal interests, and continuing to support the community in new and meaningful ways.

Michael has vast knowledge of the banking industry, culminating in 30 years of experience in loan documentation, credit analysis, and commercial lending. He joined Isabella Bank in 2005, where he has served as Vice President and Senior Commercial Loan Officer, focusing on business development and commercial lending needs in the central Michigan area. As he moves into the Chief Lending Officer role, Michael will oversee all the lending activities of the Bank, developing and implementing strategies for continued growth of the loan portfolio while supporting the lending needs of the communities we serve.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Graceland University. He is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Rollie Denison Leadership Institute, Michigan Leadership Development Institute at Saginaw Valley State University, Dale Carnegie Team Development Program, and Dale Carnegie Executive Leadership Program.

Michael is deeply committed to community engagement. He has served as Treasurer and Board Chair of the Central Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross, President and Treasurer of the Clare Rotary Club, Treasurer and member of the Faith Lutheran Church Board, member of the Mt. Pleasant Rocket Football Fundraising Committee, and Chair of the Mid-Michigan College Campaign for Excellence, where he helped raise $5 million for a new liberal arts and business center. He volunteers his time as an instructor for Perry Schools of Banking and Junior Achievement of North Central Michigan. In addition, Michael participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He has received respected awards and recognition for his volunteerism, including the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce Eagle Award and American Red Cross Clara Barton Award. Michael is the proud parent of three children, Madison, Jordan, and Tyler, and resides in Mt. Pleasant with his wife, Jacquie.
