Peggy Wheeler, Chief Operations Officer of Isabella Bank, announced the retirement of Greg Mapes, Vice President of Treasury Services, following 22 years of dedicated service, and the promotion of Jody Hassen to Director of Treasury Management, Assistant Vice President.

Mapes joined Isabella Bank in February 2004 as Corporate Treasurer and was promoted to Vice President and Treasurer in 2005. He later transitioned to Vice President, Deposit Administrator, overseeing all deposit services for the Bank, and his role later evolved into Treasury Management. In 2020, Mapes was named head of Treasury Services, where he led the expansion of products and services for commercial customers, ensuring the Bank remained competitive and responsive to their evolving needs.

During his tenure, Mapes played a pivotal role in strengthening the Bank’s treasury offerings and driving significant growth in the business and municipal customer base through his ability to build strong and trusted partnerships.

Beyond his work at the Bank, Mapes has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service. He has been actively involved in several local organizations and has notably served as Mayor of the City of Alma, a position he continues to hold to this day.

“We are very appreciative of everything Greg accomplished during his 22 years at Isabella Bank,” said Wheeler. “His contributions have made a lasting impact on our organization and our customers. We wish him all the best as he begins this well-deserved next chapter.”

Hassen succeeds Mapes and will lead the Bank’s treasury management strategy and operations, delivering high-quality financial solutions to business clients. She is committed to equipping customers with the tools, insights, and support they need to focus on running and growing their businesses.

“At Isabella Bank, we place a strong emphasis on planning for the future and continued growth, and succession planning is a key part of that process,” said Neil McDonnell, President of Isabella Bank. “Jody’s leadership, experience, and commitment to our customers make her ideally suited for this role. We are excited to see the impact she will have, particularly for our business customers.”

Since 2024, Hassen has worked closely with Mapes and the Treasury Services team, gaining valuable experience that positions her well for this transition.

“I see this opportunity as a way to continue contributing to the Bank’s mission and strategic direction,” said Hassen. “I look forward to leading a talented team of Isabella Bankers focused on providing quality, professional, and personalized service to business clients across Central Michigan.”

Hassen most recently served as a Senior Treasury Sales Specialist, a role she assumed in June 2024. She joined Isabella Bank in January 2021 as the founding manager of the call center, where her leadership helped the team earn Isabella Bank Team of the Year Award in 2022.

Prior to joining Isabella Bank, Hassen spent more than 24 years at Central Michigan University in roles spanning business operations, enrollment, and student services.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Ferris State University and a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University. She is a graduate of the Perry Schools of Banking and has completed both the Dale Carnegie Leadership Program and Isabella Bank’s Trusted Advisor Program.

Active in the community, Hassen volunteered with organizations including Junior Achievement, the Mt. Pleasant Community Foundation, R.I.S.E. Advocacy, Isabella County Restoration House, and the Mt. Pleasant Sports Boosters.

Hassen resides in Mt. Pleasant with her husband, Rob, and is a proud parent to two children, Justin and Paige.
